These are a few of the tools we use to help keep you informed:

Daily Communications via Playground Parent App.

Daily notes from center staff will keep you informed about your child’s activities and experiences at the center. Infant/Toddler teachers record bottles and/or food, nap times, and diaper changes. Notes will be placed into your child’s file folder at the end of the day.

Bulletin Boards.

Located at the entrance of each classroom, bulletin boards provide Academy news, upcoming events and announcements, menu, lesson plans and classroom schedule information.

Newsletters.

Monthly curriculum newsletters provide families with valuable information on Curriculum Themes and Learning Goals.

Email.

We encourage you to provide an email address that you use regularly so that we may send you announcements, event invitations, newsletters and general updates.

Parent Resource Board.

Our parent resource table is in the main foyer, and it provides a variety of Academy related information as well as state and local community resources.

Family Visits.

Family participation is encouraged. Visit our classrooms, volunteer, or eat a meal with your child. Signing in is required for the safety and protection of our children. Each visitor must wear a visitor’s badge while on premises and sign-out upon leaving.

Family Night.

Family nights are scheduled twice a year: Open House in October, and End of the Year Celebration/Graduation in May. These nights include snacks, drinks and fun filled with age-appropriate activities for families. These events allow families and children time to share, earn, and have fun. Families have an opportunity to be a part of their child’s learning experience and connect with other families.

Conferences.

Family & teacher conferences occur twice a year. During these conferences, we will discuss your child’s strengths, likes and dislikes, and styles of learning. We will work together to set goals for your child’s growth and development. You may request additional conferences regarding your child’s progress at any time. We encourage you to communicate any concerns.

Communication & Family Partnerships

We welcome and encourage open communication between families and classroom teaching staff and between families and program administration. We believe that it is the role of Hillcrest Children’s Academy to be your partner, and it is our sincerest desire to create a safe place for you to express your concerns. We hope that if you have a problem, you will feel comfortable and safe enough to speak openly and honestly with us so that we can come to a mutual resolution.
